What is a quotation?

A quotation (or price quote) tells a customer what a job or product will cost before they agree to buy. Unlike an invoice, it is not a request for payment, and it is usually valid for a limited time.

What to include on a quotation

  • Your business details and logo, and the customer's details.
  • A quotation number, the date and a valid-until date.
  • Each item or service with quantity, unit and price.
  • Discount, VAT and the total, plus any payment or delivery terms.
